Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

Volunteers Needed to Help People File Tax Returns.
The VITA Program helps those with low-to-moderate incomes. Trained Volunteer Tax Assistors explain the many special credits and deductions and how people may claim them on their tax returns. Volunteers will help individuals complete and electronically file their returns - all for free.

Who are these volunteers? People just like you - college students, law students, homemakers, members of volunteer or community organizations, and businessmen and women. Volunteer Tax Assistors receive free instructioon and all training and certifacation materials necessary to prepare basic income tax returns. Training and cerification generally is conducted in December and the following January. Volunteers are also needed to help in other ways. Some volunteers help organize tax sites, while others only do publicity for a site. If you have a skill and would like to help, we can find a way lto involve you in the program.

If you or your organization would like more information, or to get involved with the VITA program, contact the United Way of Adams County office at (217) 222.5020 or email info@unitedwayadamsco.org
