United Way Grants (2017-2018)

Looking at Adams County through the lens of data reported in our 2015 Community Assessment, we see the impact that generational poverty, underemployment, mental illness and obesity are having on children, adults, individuals and families here in our area. There is no one-size fits all solution to address these complex issues and moving the needle in a positive direction takes marathon conditioning – not a sprinters pace. Your United Way is conditioned to go the distance. We approach complex challenges by targeting our resources into the direct service work of our funded partner programs, as well as county-wide collaborative efforts guided by our Community Building Council.

Thanks to the generosity of the thousands of individuals and over 125 businesses and private foundations who pledge support during our annual campaign, United Way is now investing $636,300 through grants to 31 local partner agency programs. Grants are determined by a 30-member panel of community volunteers assembled through United Way’s Resource Investment Process. Volunteers make site visits to assess each program and experience first-hand how their services result in measurable impact for the clients they serve. The seven week process emphasizes the importance of accountability, transparency, and community impact in three focus areas:

  • EDUCATION: Children/Youth  are successful in school and graduate ready for college or career
  • FINANCIAL STABILITY: Individuals can get back on their feet after a crisis. Individuals can secure and maintain a job.
  • HEALTH: Physical, mental and behavioral health needs are met so individuals can reach their fullest potential.

United Way is proud to invest in the partner programs listed below
that are improving education, financial stability and health for all.
