Quincy, IL - June 5, 2026 - United Way of Adams County’s Day of Caring made a countywide impact on
Friday, June 5, as local businesses and organizations came together to complete 20 service projects
throughout Adams County. The annual event brought together volunteers from 18 local businesses and
one service organization, demonstrating the power of collaboration and community spirit.

As one of United Way’s signature initiatives, Day of Caring connects volunteers with meaningful
opportunities to serve local nonprofits and community organizations. From painting and landscaping to
organizing donations and beautifying community spaces, volunteers tackled projects that will continue
to benefit Adams County residents long after the day ended.

"Day of Caring is one of the most rewarding days of the year because it allows us to see our community
come together to make a meaningful difference across Adams County," said Makayla Buckley,
Communications and Program Director for United Way of Adams County.“We are incredibly grateful to
the businesses, organizations, and volunteers who generously give their time and talents to strengthen
our community. Their willingness to serve is what makes this day so impactful.”

This year’s event was made possible through the generous support of community sponsors, including
Blessing Health System, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Quincy Medical Group, Schmiedeskamp Robertson Neu
& Mitchell, Refreshment Services Pepsi, Walmart, and TCBY. Their contributions helped provide project
supplies, meals, refreshments, and other resources that ensured volunteers had everything they needed
for a successful day of service.

United Way of Adams County extends its sincere appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers who
dedicated their time and energy to improving our community. Their commitment to service reflects the
spirit of what it means to Live United and demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved when
people work together toward a common goal.
